繁殖期を迎える石垣島の野鳥たち

石垣島の留鳥たちの繁殖は早いです。 オリイヤマガラはすでに巣立ち 、私の勤める会社の社屋に巣を作ったリュウキュウツバメは3月後半に巣立ちしました。

シロハラクイナは親鳥2羽で6羽のヒナを連れて歩いていました。前の日にも見ているのでお気に入りの場所のようです。

昨日、自宅のベランダからアサクラサンショウクイを発見したので、付近を探しているとカタグロトビのペアを発見。何度か自宅前のサトウキビ畑で見ている個体だと思われます。農地にぽつんとある小さな雑木林で繁殖しそうです。

リュウキュウツミも繁殖期に入っており、メスが鳴いて威嚇しながらカラスを追い払っていました。オスは見当たりませんでしたが、昨年、一昨年も同所で子育てしているので今年も期待がかかります。

リュウキュウキビタキもあちこちで盛んにさえずっています。農地を車で走っているとリュウキュウキビタキのさえずりが聞こえてきました。小さな雑木林なので、よく探してみるとさえずっている若い個体を発見。まさかこんな場所にまでいるとは思いませんでした。

リュウキュウコノハズクもすでにペアができており、オスがメスを営巣木に誘っています。 先日は、昨年も繁殖に成功しているペアと思われる オスが樹洞からメスを呼ぶ姿 が観察できました。今夜は、新規の場所でオスがメスを巣穴に呼ぶ姿が確認できました。最近、自宅に引き込まれる電線にリュウキュウコノハズクのオスがやってきてしきりにメスを呼んでいます。通風口を狙っているのかもしれません…。^^; 近々、巣箱をかけたいと思います。

キンバトは姿は見えませんが「ウー、ウー」というさえずりと呼ぶにはあまりにも低音の鳴き声がよく聞こえるようになりました。

まだ帰らない鳥たち

コハクチョウ、カラムクドリ、オナガガモがまだ残っています。普通なら北へ渡っていないといけない時期ですが、のんびりしているようです。シロハラやアカハラなどもまだまだ残っています。シマアカモズも越冬個体や北上組が入り混じりたくさんいます。

石垣島にブロンズトキ19羽参上!!(動画あり)

なんと石垣島に19羽のブロンズトキが大挙して押し寄せました!! 2019年6月には単独でしたが、今回は群れでの飛来となりました。複数羽での飛来の記録は沖縄本島などでもありますが、さすがに19羽の群れは過去最大です。春の珍事ならぬエイプリルフールの珍事です。^^;

群れの中には若い個体も混じっており、成鳥との違いも見ることができました。ミサゴが上空を通過すると驚いて飛び上がるのですが、これだけの個体数がいると羽ばたきの音がしっかりと聞こえました。

群れで鳴き交わしもするので貴重な鳴き声を聞くこともできました。

4月1日のエイプリルフールでの飛来となり、連絡を受けた人たちは信じられないようでしたが、マジです。^^

ツバメチドリ大群乱舞とベニバト4羽

春の渡りが本格化してきた石垣島ではツバメチドリの100羽以上(カウント不能)の大群が到着しました。ほとんど夏羽に換羽してあの美しい姿をことしも見せてくれました。

ベニバトも4羽到着。キジバトの群れにまじって農地で採餌していました。

海岸のシギ、チドリもにぎやかになってきており、オオメダイチドリやメダイチドリ、キョウジョシギなどが続々と到着しています。

昨日、石垣島に現れたブロンズトキ19羽の大群 は引き続き滞在中。これまでブロンズトキは籠抜けとか言われたり、そう記載した図鑑もあったりしますが、今回の飛来で修正されることを願います。

雨の中ミヤマホオジロ飛来

雨の中、ミヤマホオジロのオスが飛来しました。かなり疲れた様子で車両が横を通過しても逃げず、動きも緩慢でした。

シベリアアオジのオスが牧草地の農道にいましたが、姿はチラチラ見えるものの草むらに入ってばかりで写真には納められず…。

リュウキュウアカショウビンの季節到来(動画あり)

今年も石垣島の夏のアイドルでバードウオッチャーあこがれのリュウキュウアカショウビンの季節がやってきました。

2月下旬には鳴き声を確認し、3月半ばにはバンナ公園近くで姿も確認されていましたが、3月末ごろから徐々に数を増やし、4月に入ると例年通り、一夜にしてドカンと増えました。

数日前からは、自宅からもアカショウビンの鳴き声は聞こえてきます。^^

石垣島のアカショウビンは、5月ごろのピークをメインに4月から9月ごろまで楽しめます。繁殖が終わってからの7月以降は美しい姿も子育てに疲れてボロボロになるので前半がお勧めですね。

オバシギ、ハマシギ、コアオアシシギ、セイタカシギ、トウネンが今季初として確認できました。キリアイもいましたが、撮影はかなわず…。明日、再挑戦したいと思います。

石垣島の春の渡りは活発に動いており、同じ田んぼや海岸でも翌日にはごそっとメンバーが変わっています。

海岸は環境の変化がないからか、毎年、安定して渡りが楽しめるいいスポットです。^^

小中学生たちとリュウキュウアカショウビンの観察

沖縄本島から友人家族が訪れたので小中学生を連れてアカショウビン観察へ行ってきました。

同じ場所で毎年、繁殖するペアがすでに飛来していました。至近距離で観察、撮影できて子どもたちも大喜びのようでした。^^

今季初キアシシギなど海岸のシギ、チドリ

今季初のキアシシギが数羽飛来していました。ムナグロの群れの中にはかなり換羽が進み夏羽っぽい個体もいました。換羽の早いシロチドリは大半が夏羽へ変わっていました。

キョウジョシギは越冬個体もいますが、個体数が増えており、北上組も合流したものと思われます。

タイワンハクセキレイ、アカガシラサギ、ノビタキ、オシドリほか

夕方、近所の田んぼを軽く一周してきました。

タイワンハクセキレイやツメナガセキレイ、ムネアカタヒバリなどがいました。

ノビタキは昨日から滞在中。沖縄本島や石垣島では少なく、今年に入って2羽目の確認でした。

驚いたことに季節外れのオシドリのオスもいました。石垣島の越冬カモたちは繁殖のため、3月下旬にはほとんどいなくなっていますが、どこからやってきたのでしょうか?

トラクターの後をついて回るアマサギやコサギの群れの中にアカガシラサギが1羽混じっていました。同じ田んぼで断続的に確認されていた越冬個体かもしれません。

タマシギ、ベニバト、ルリビタキ、カンムリワシ、アカショウビンほか

留鳥、渡り鳥ともにぎやかな石垣島です。

タマシギは、あちこちでペアが形成されています。順調な繁殖を期待します。

ジシギはハリオシギ、チュウジシギ、タシギと初認しているのですが、今季はハリオシギが少ないようで、なかなか見つかりません。もともと春のジシギは少ないので難しいですね。タシギはぼちぼち通過しています。

牧場のベニバトはオスとメスを確認。たまに農地側に降りますが、牧場側に降りると敷地外からは見えません。^^;

美しいルリビタキのオスが飛来していました。アンパルでは今季初のホウロクシギを確認しました。

田んぼに赤いカルガモを発見。一瞬、アカノドカルガモかと思いましたが、ただ赤いだけのカルガモでした。鉄分が多い水場にでもつかっていたのでしょうか?

アカショウビンは数を順調に増やし、いつもの場所にいつものメンバーが帰ってきています。

滞在9日目のブロンズトキ(動画あり)

4月1日のエイプリルフールに19羽という信じられない数で飛来して、日本中のバードウオッチャーを混乱の渦に陥れたブロンズトキは1羽も欠けることなく石垣島に滞在中です。

まだまだヤツガシラ コムクドリも滞在中

漁港近くの公園にヤツガシラが1羽。小さな公園ですが、たまにヤツガシラが観察されます。今季も2羽ほど飛来しています。

石垣島で越冬していたムクドリの仲間はだんだん数が減ってきていますが、私の勤務先と自宅裏のタブノキには熟れた実を食べにコムクドリやカラムクドリ、ムクドリが群れで毎日のようにやってきます。

3日分の鳥見成果。今季初のチュウジシギ、ブロンズトキ、キリアイ、サルハマシギなど

多忙につき、4月16日までの3日分のバードウオッチングの成果の一部をまとめてご紹介します。今季初となるチュウジシギをやっと確認。後日、追記します。

情報もらっても見に行っていない鳥もいますので、そのあたりは割愛します…。^^; 以下の写真の通り、田んぼや海岸には日替わりで渡り鳥たちがやってきています。この時季の石垣島は、とっても楽しいですよ。

後日追記

ブロンズトキは毎日のようにハヤブサに追われて落ち着きません。群れの数も19羽から16羽に減りました。食われたか逸れたかしたのでしょう。滞在場所も以前とは違う場所になりました。

海岸にはシギやチドリが日替わりで出たり入ったりを繰り返しています。メダイチドリやキョウジョシギ、トウネンあたりがレギュラーメンバーでその合間にサルハマシギやミユビシギ、オバシギなどが渡ってきます。キリアイも珍しく近くで見ることができました。夏羽のハシブトアジサシも河口で飛び回っています。

コシャクシギ7羽参上!!(動画あり)

石垣島にコシャクシギ7羽が飛来しました。例年、いてもめちゃくちゃ遠い牧草地とかに入りがちなコシャクシギですが、今回は超近距離で観察、撮影することができました。

シャクシギの中でも飛び抜けてかわいらしいのがコシャクシギですね。そんなコシャクシギが近くで思う存分見られて幸せでした。

コシャクシギの近くにはツバメチドリやムナグロもいました。今季の石垣島フライウェイはこのエリアのようです。

田んぼには長期滞在中のアカガシラサギ。だんだん夏羽が目立つようになってきました。コアオアシシギやセイタカシギ、ウズラシギ、タカブシギ、ヒバリシギもどんどん数を増やしています。

みなさんの気になるブロンズトキは3羽減らして16羽が滞在17日経過しました。以前より少し分かりにくい場所に移動しました。

天地返し中のサトウキビ畑にはエサが豊富にあるようでカラスに追われたり、通行人に驚いて逃げたりしても同じ畑に戻ってきていました。

ブロンズトキ、アカショウビン、ツバメチドリ

4月1日に石垣島に現れたブロンズトキは滞在20日となりました。当初19羽だった群れは少し数を減らしていますが、この日は13羽と3羽の群れに分かれていました。それぞれ田んぼでジャンボタニシを食いまくっていました。ペアのように行動を共にする個体もいてこのまま滞在したら繁殖するかもしれませんね。ジャンボタニシを食ってくれるなら水稲農家の味方になるのかもしれません。

リュウキュウアカショウビンは数を増やして林道や公園などあちこちで出会えます。

ツバメチドリも群れの出入りが激しいです。そんな中、単独で畑で休む個体がいました。

田んぼのシギはアオアシシギやヒバリシギ、セイタカシギが数を増やしています。

サルハマシギとミユビシギ2羽に増量 キアシシギも増えてきた

4日前、1羽だったサルハマシギ は2羽になりました。換羽状況から先日のサルハマシギとは別の個体が飛来したようです。ミユビシギも2羽に増えました。

キアシシギも数を増やしています。メダイチドリ、シロチドリ、ムナグロ、トウネン、ウズラシギ、シロチドリ、イソシギ、アオアシシギ、キョウジョシギなども滞在中です。

ブロンズトキ滞在3週間 今季初のアカアシシギ

ブロンズトキ19羽が石垣島やってきてからちょうど3週間が経ちました。田んぼで水稲農家の敵ジャンボタニシをせっせと食って引き続き貢献しています。^^

田んぼでは今季初のアカアシシギの飛来を確認しました。石垣島では一部、越冬しますが、それとは別の春の上り個体です。

いつも同じ場所にいる真っ白なインドクジャクは雨上がり、マツの枝に止まっていました。

台風2号の影響で増えた海岸のシギとチドリ

春の渡り中のシギやチドリを台風2号が直撃したため、飛翔力が高く天候が良ければ石垣島に降りずにノンストップで行ってしまうような大型のシギが多く降り立ちました。また、波が高いことから沖合の岩礁での休憩ができず、いつもより多くのシギとチドリが海岸に身を寄せていました。

この日、一番の収穫はコオバシギ。スポッターさんに教えてもらって現場に出向いたのですが、散歩の人に飛ばされてロストしたとのこと。近くを探してみると200メートルほど西の海岸に降りていました。

別の海岸にはオオソリハシシギ。こちらはノンストップで1万1000キロを飛べるとあって天候に恵まれた年は会えませんが、今回は台風の影響で4羽が飛来しました。

ホウロクシギも台風の影響が出だしてから立て続けに確認。この日は2羽が砂浜で採餌していました。

沖縄本島や宮古島では多くみられますが、なぜか石垣島では少ないチュウシャクシギも到着。オバシギ3羽とハマシギは数日前から場所を変えつつ滞在している模様。キアシシギは一気に数を増やして30羽ほどをカウント。ダイゼンは越冬組は抜けて渡り組が到着。キョウジョシギ、ムナグロ、アオアシシギ、メダイチドリなども台風で足止めを食らっていますが、これからどんどん北上していきます。

オグロシギ、コアジサシ到着 タマシギは繁殖期(動画あり)

今季初のオグロシギとコアジサシを確認。

タマシギは先日の同じエリアの巣作りカップルとは別のペア。タマシギは一妻多夫ですが、ここはメスのなわばりが隣接しているのでしょうか。

コアオアシシギとタカブシギはここ数日で結構な数を確認しました。タシギとチュウジシギはそこそこいるのですが、今季はハリオシギがまだ確認できていません。まもなく5月になってしまうので今季は厳しそうです。

海岸にはたくさんのメダイチドリとその群れの中にオオメダイチドリやトウネンなどが混じっています。ホウロクシギもやってきましたが、警戒心が強いので浜で遊ぶ子どもたちを警戒してすぐに飛び立って行きました。

久しぶりのハリオシギ確認 アカガシラサギ夏羽飛来ほか

今季初のハリオシギを3月下旬に確認して以来、なかなか次がなかったのですが、約1ヶ月ぶりに登場。春の石垣島はジシギが少ないのでハリオシギ探しもなかなか難航します。これで春の渡りのハリオシギ、チュウジシギ、タシギがぱらぱらと通過しています。

今季、出会いの多いサルハマシギは2羽が田んぼに飛来。夏羽のアカガシラサギも久しぶりに確認できました。冬羽の越冬組も同所で滞在中です。

シマアカモズは換羽が進んでぼろぼろの個体が島内でも結構残っています。

タマシギは繁殖期序盤で活発に動き回っていることから、出会う機会が多くなっています。たいてい雌雄ペアで行動しています。

ハリオシギ増加、タマシギの子連れほか

先日、ハリオシギを見つけた田んぼ で新たに2羽のハリオシギを確認。ここにきて一気に増えたようです。

タマシギは複数が繁殖しているようで巣作りしている個体がいると思えば、きょうは孵化後数日たったヒナを2羽連れたオスを見つけました。

田んぼには、アカアシシギやコアオアシシギ、ヒバリシギ、タカブシギなども日々入れ替わりながら個体数を増やしています。

沖縄ではワンシーズンに1羽見るか見ないかの珍鳥ケリも現れました。

ブロンズトキは分散しながらも滞在しています。カップルらしきもできているようで繁殖の可能性がますます濃厚になってきました。

久しぶりの夜探

かなり久しぶりに夜探へ行ってきました。リュウキュウコノハズク、アオバズクともに繁殖期で活発です。

ゴイサギは成鳥、幼鳥ともに水路で確認。寝ているアカショウビンやイシガキヒヨドリも観察できました。
