やんばるでリュウキュウオオコノハズク、ホントウアカヒゲなど
久しぶりに夜のやんばる。自宅を出るのが遅かったので、到着は午前1時を回っていました…。^^;
とりあえずリュウキュウオオコノハズクのポイントに出向くとすぐに1羽に出会えました。その後も3羽と鳴き声は1羽確認できました。あまり活性は高くなかった。時間帯も悪かったと思います。本来、この時期は繁殖期序盤で活性が高いはずです。昨年は 同時期の同場所で8個体観察の5個体撮影 しています。
ヤマシギはいつもの芝生に2羽。奥の植え込みにもいるようでしたが、肉眼で確認できたのは2羽だけでした。時間は夜中の3時前で眠かったのと 1カ月前に同じ場所で4羽を撮っている ので今回は写真はなし。^^;
車中泊しましたが、寝心地が良すぎて起きたのは午前10時前。駐車場ではホントウアカヒゲが出迎えてくれました。^^
その後、沖縄本島最北端の広大なススキ原に出向いたのですが、ジョウビタキやイソヒヨドリなどだけで特筆するものはなし。珍しいのが越冬していないかと期待していったのですが、外れました。
2:00 a.m. — a Ryukyu Scops Owl hunting at its usual spot. It had grass seeds stuck to its rump.
I counted four Ryukyu Scops Owls. Given the time of day, I suppose that's about what you'd expect.
After setting up a comfortable car-camping arrangement, I slept too well and didn't wake until around 10. ^^; When I went to use the toilet, an adult male Ryukyu Robin came out to greet me.
I made a rare trip all the way to the northernmost tip of the Okinawa main island — quite a distance, so I don't get there often — and all I had to show for it was a female Daurian Redstart….
