アオウミガメの孵化(動画あり)

知り合いのオジーから「ウミガメが孵化するぞ」と連絡があったので、夕方、家族でアオウミガメのハッチアウトを見てきました。3歳の息子は大喜び、0歳の娘はきょとんとしていた。^^

午後2時からハッチアウトが始まっているそうで砂浜には無数の子亀の足跡。現場について、30分ほどの間に3匹が元気に海へ帰って行きました。深夜にかけてまだまだ出てくると言うことでした。

ウミガメの子どもは孵化後数時間はエネルギーが爆発してそのタイミングで海に帰らないといけないそうです。そのような事情で、昔、流行っていた子亀の放流イベントは現在は禁止だそうです。

A Green Turtle that had just emerged from the sand. I thought it might be lethargic, but almost immediately it seemed to snap awake and headed straight for the sea.

My son got so caught up cheering that he crossed the barrier rope and had to be stopped by his mother. ^^;

秋の渡り始まる シギ・チドリ11種とアジサシ3種

近所の海岸と田んぼで秋の渡りチェック。7月ともなれば、渡り鳥の世界ではすでに秋の移動が始まっています。楽しい季節がやってきましたね!!

海岸では、ツバメチドリやメダイチドリ、シロチドリ、トウネン、イソシギ、ソリハシシギが田んぼでは、タカブシギやヒバリシギ、アオアシシギ、アカアシシギ、コチドリが長旅で疲れた体を休めていました。

また、海岸や岩礁ではベニアジサシやエリグロアジサシ、コアジサシが繁殖しており大変賑やかです。

An Oriental Pratincole moulting from juvenile to first-winter plumage. It had come to bathe at a river mouth. Oriental Pratincoles breed on Ishigaki-jima as well, and this individual was probably born here.

アオバズク巣立ちとまもなく巣立ちのコノハズク

リュウキュウアオバズクが2日に分けて巣立ちました。家族で並ぶシーンはありませんでしたが、可愛らしいヒナを撮影できました。リュウキュウコノハズクも各所で順調に子育て中で今か今かと楽しみにしています。

イシガキヒヨドリも子育て中のようでバッタを捕まえて巣へ運んでいました。

ムラサキサギも子育て中のはずですが、今年は繁殖が観察できず…。

仕事の移動中に見た鳥

仕事で移動中につまみ食い。アカショウビンやコノハズク、アオバズク、クロハラアジサシが見られました。

写真には撮っていませんが、キンバトやカンムリワシ、ムラサキサギ、コアジサシ、エリグロアジサシなども車を運転しながら横目でチラ見。^^

コノハズク五つ目の営巣確認 アオバズクはまもなく巣立ち

昨年も分からなかったリュウキュウコノハズクの営巣木がやっと分かりました。今季、五つ目の繁殖確認です。

このペアの雌雄は繁殖期序盤にすでに判明していました。しばらくするとオスしか見ることがなくなっていましたが、そのころ、メスが抱卵に入ったのでしょう。ここ数日はメスも頻繁に観察できるようになったので、ヒナは順調に育っていることと思われます。

リュウキュウアオバズクは6カ所で繁殖を確認しており、そのうちの一つは6月30日に巣立ち、もう一つも今夜あたり巣立ちそうな予感です。

Same individual as above. A lucky-break Oriental Scops Owl that caught a Yaeyama Large Cicada which had flown straight at my flashlight. Whether the prey was too big or the chicks were already full, it ended up eating the whole thing itself.
