たまにはシギチも。三大逃げない種。^^

Red-necked Phalaropes never seem to flush, regardless of the individual. They were feeding in the paddies, bobbing along on the surface.

2年前車にひかれて死んだアオバズクのポイント(夕方のえさ場)に今年から新しい個体が入ったようです。前の個体より警戒心がうすく、写真を撮らせてくれます。^^

It snatched a Brambling that was picking up grass seeds at the roadside and disappeared into the bushes. A flock of 200–300 Bramblings had arrived on the island before the typhoon and seems to have dispersed, appearing in small groups of a few birds.

数日前にリュウキュウツミのペアを見た場所で、今日もペアでいました。オスの方は警戒心が強いのでたかーい松か木の陰に止まっていますが、メスは見晴らしのいい場所で獲物を狙っていました。と思ったのですが、写真をよく見るとアイリングもなくろう膜の黄色が目立ち、胸がオレンジなので季節外れのアカハラダカのメスですね。このまま越冬してくれたらうれしいなー。

先日見たペアはじゃれていたように見えましたが、実は、アカハラダカのメスとリュウキュウツミのオスが喧嘩していただけかも…。^^;

A female Chinese Sparrowhawk. She showed no fear of people at all — even when I got out of the car and set up a tripod she didn't flee. Afterward she caught a cicada and ate it in the undergrowth. If only I'd known it was a Chinese Sparrowhawk, I'd have taken a lot more shots!!

例年より少し早めにサシバの大きな群れが入りました。700羽ほどのカウントです。また、チゴハヤブサも1羽現れました。

林道にカンムリワシの幼鳥がいました。前回見つけた幼鳥同様、人を全く恐れない個体でした。

There is a blood-sucking mite below its eye.

御嶽にカンムリワシの幼鳥がいました。道中、アカショウビンと今季初のチョウゲンボウにも合えました。^^

It keeps looking up because crows come to harass it from time to time.

昨日に引き続き、今朝もアカハラダカの渡りを観察してきました。風があまりなく暑かったですが、数百羽のタカ柱も見られました。

なんと、昨日に引き続き今日もアカショウビンが見られました。^^

The bill colour is just enough to tell it's a first-year bird. When I found it, it was eating what appeared to be a stick insect.

非常になれた個体でした。顔つきも二枚目で脚、羽毛ともほとんど汚れていません。^^

台風後にクロハラアジサシが一気に増えました。今日は、牧草地でバッタなどを狩っていました。

秋の渡りが始まっていますが、今日はアカショウビンが2羽見られました。^^

季節外れですが、小声でさえずってもいました!!

It caught a large Sakishima flat stag beetle.

台風で小休止していたアカハラダカの渡りが本格化してきました。今日は、合計で500羽ほど観察されましたが、南風が吹いていたのでアカハラダカが遠い…。^^;

明日は爆発する予報です!!

幼鳥が出ているのは聞いていたのですが、タイミングが悪くなかなか見つけられずにいたのですが、やっと合えました。真っ白な幼鳥の羽は美しいです。^^

今年は台風も少なかったのでたくさんの幼鳥に合えるといいのですが。

Painusima Ishigaki Airport is close by and you can hear the roar of planes taking off and landing, yet they are nesting here.

台風16号の通過でアカハラダカの渡りは一休み。風が吹く中、田んぼのツバメやサトウキビ畑のツバメチドリはじっとしています。

風もなく暑い日でしたが、ヤツガシラはまだいました。通常は1〜2日の滞在ですが、この個体は長くとどまる様子です。^^

The Eurasian Hoopoe seemed to be feeling the heat too, foraging in the shade as much as possible.

先月の22日で見納めと思っていたアカショウビンに出会えました。^^

この時期のアカショウビンは嬉しいですねー。

A Ruddy Kingfisher hatched this year. It had apparently just eaten a slug or something — there was mucus around the base of its bill. ^^;

渡ってきて3日目。だいぶ落ち着いてきたようです。^^

Ishigaki Island is extremely hot. So hot that the Eurasian Hoopoe had its bill open.

牧場でヤツガシラを探しているとカンムリワシ。残念ながら幼鳥は今日も見つからず…。

It then flew out over the sea.

昨日は警戒心が強過ぎて写真に収められませんでしたが、今日はなんとか。^^;

やんばるでリュウキュウオオコノハズクを見てきました。2羽のオオコノハズクが同じ場所を狩り場にして、リュウキュウカジカガエルを捕っていました。

ホントウアカヒゲは林道のあちこちにいました。

It had perched on a nice tree, but flew off before I could press the shutter. ^^;
