We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
夕方の公園を7D Mark IIをぶら下げて散歩してきました。いつも1D X使ってると軽さに驚いた!! これだけ軽いと手軽に持ち出せますね。ただ、ファインダーが小さくて見にくいですね。APS-Cだからしょうがない? 高感度も1D Xと比べると落ちます。また、シャッター音が軽すぎて撮れてるのか不安に…。^^;
シロハラがたくさんいたので200mmで撮影してみました。また、ツミが毎晩同じねぐらで寝ています。都会のツミは警戒心薄いねー。営巣もしてるかも。^^
The Japanese Sparrowhawk sleeps on this branch every night. Here it is yawning.
The Pale Thrush here is more used to people than on Ishigaki-jima and doesn't flush.
いつも 塒で観察していたツミ に昼間、遭遇しました ( 追記: 後日、よく見たらメスでした。このオスとは違う個体です ) 。人を全く恐れず、5メートルぐらまで寄っても逃げる気配すらありませんでした。
先日は、18時35分に塒にやってきたので、今日も待ってみると18時39分にやってきました。「キッキッキッ」と小さく鳴いていつもの枝に止まりました。
また、リュウキュウコゲラの営巣もありました。枯れた木にゴルフボールほどの穴がきれいに開いていました。
A male Japanese Sparrowhawk perched in a Taiwan Cherry tree. I tried the 70-200 with a 2x extender, but in backlit conditions the contrast drops badly and sharpness suffers too… ^^; I've boosted the contrast in Lightroom.
This Oriental Turtle Dove was also shot with the 70-200 and 2x extender — in good light it holds up reasonably well.

三角池のツクシガモとソリハシセイタカシギはいなくなったようです。
豊崎干潟ではヘラサギ、クロツラヘラサギが休んだり、採餌したりしていました。上空にはミサゴが舞っていました。

Some black feathers remain and the eye has a reddish tinge, so this is a juvenile.

先日、撮影したねぐらのツミ を本日、再度確認したらメスでした。なので、公園には 3月7日に撮影したオス とこのメスが同じ縄張り内で生息していることになり、営巣の可能性は非常に高いです。5月には子育てシーズンに入るので観察が楽しみです。^^
オスメスともに非常に人馴れした個体なので、以前からこの公園にいるのでしょうね。
p.s. 最新の日本鳥類目録では、沖縄本島のツミは八重山のリュウキュウツミとは別亜種のツミとご指摘いただきました。主な特徴は沖縄本島以北のオスのツミの虹彩が赤いのに対し、八重山の繁殖個体のオスの虹彩の色は橙色か黄色( これ とか こっち )であることです。過去の写真を確認してみると確かに石垣島で撮影したリュウキュウツミのオスの虹彩は橙色です。そして、今回沖縄本島で撮ったオスの虹彩は深い赤色でした。沖縄のレッドリストではリュウキュウツミと記載なのですが、今後は最新の日本鳥類目録に準拠することにします。 しまのとり さん、ご指摘ありがとうございました。
A female Japanese Sparrowhawk returned to roost right on schedule, just after 18:30. A male also lives in the same park, so I'm hoping they'll breed.
おきなわほんとうなんぶの区画整理中の業務核地区と工業地区の草地にムナグロの百数十羽の群れやシロチドリの50羽ほどの群れがやってきていました。ムネアカタヒバリは近くのビーチの芝生に数羽がいました。今日は、雨が一日中ぱらついていたのでビーチに人影はまばらでしたが、天気がいいと多くの人が訪れるのでタヒバリなど警戒心の強い野鳥はいなくなるでしょう。
また、この開発地区は数年以内には商業施設や工場が立ち並び草地も消えてしまうことでしょう。那覇市にはもう土地は余っていないので、人が住むためには仕方ないのでしょうか。草地や干潟を多少残す配慮があればよかったのですが、地区計画書を見る限りはそういうわけにもいかなそうです…。
In a green space where light rain fell all day, a Red-throated Pipit was resting and recovering from the migration. Still in winter plumage.
When a fighter jet roared overhead, the startled Red-throated Pipit froze and crouched down.
Pacific Golden Plovers were resting in a flock of over a hundred birds. Presumably passing through on migration. Nearly all were still in winter plumage.
Kentish Plovers were resting in an area with more gravel than where the Pacific Golden Plovers were. Kentish Plovers are year-round residents in Okinawa, but there are presumably also flocks passing through on migration. A few individuals had already changed into summer plumage.

南城市の佐敷干潟に行ってきました。ヘラサギの幼鳥が1羽でいました。
ミサゴは餌をどこかで獲ってきてはこの場所で食うようで、3羽のミサゴが思いおもいの場所に降りて干渉し合うこともなく獲物の魚を食っていました。

The Eurasian Spoonbill was feeding on crabs and other prey in this kind of shallow water.
It has perched neatly on a branch while still gripping a large fish.
This Osprey is eating an even larger fish. The third Osprey came down on a distant beach, so I wasn't able to get a photo.
仕事を終えて飯を食ったらやんばるへ出発。ポイントへは日付が変わって、午前2時ごろ到着。早速、リュウキュウオオコノハズクのポイントへ赴きましたが、姿も声もありません。かわりにリュウキュウアオバズクが3個体ほど鳴き交わしていました。
リュウキュウオオコノハズクのポイント近くにはヤマシギが合計7羽もいました。石垣島では1羽でいるところしか見たことがないのですが、やんばるではこれが普通なのでしょうか?^^;
ポイントを移動すると、やっとリュウキュウオオコノハズクに出会えましたが撮影には至らず。日の出の30分ぐらい前になるとホントウアカヒゲやウグイスなどがしきりにさえずっていました。気持ちの良い朝です。^^
帰りの道中は金武町の田芋畑に寄ってみましたがいつもの顔ぶれでした。
The Eurasian Woodcock was so far away and in such poor light that just getting it in the viewfinder was a struggle. ^^;

One Spotted Redshank had dropped into a taro field in Kin-chō.
This one is probably a Common Snipe.
The Long-toed Stint is in winter plumage.
Wood Sandpipers were observed here and there.
Little Ringed Plovers were numerous as well.
昨夜、仕事を終わってやんばるに行ってきました。ヤマシギとリュウキュウオオコノハズク狙いです。
3時間ほどかけて、現場に到着するもツアーガイドがナイト営業しているのでヤマシギは恥ずかしがって出てきません。^^; ツアー営業も終わり2時間ほど餌場で待ち伏せると日付が変わって午前1時ごろ、今日は2羽でやってきました。私の目の前、15メートルほどに1羽、もう1羽は草地の反対側に位置する餌場へ降りたので数十メートルの距離でした。動画もありますが、全く動きません。^^;
リュウキュウコゲラは県道70号線の安田から奥の間でヤンバルクイナを探していると、頻繁に遭遇しました。こんなにたくさんいるのにリュウキュウは初見です。^^;

A Grey-faced Buzzard that appears to be on migration rather than wintering. Heavy crop, so the image is small… ^^;
It kept looking up at the sky. Perhaps a flock of Grey-faced Buzzards was passing through.
3月中旬からオオチドリが来そうなポイントを回っていたのですが、今日は5羽のオオチドリが沖縄本島南部で確認できました。与那国島まで行かなくても沖縄本島でこんなに見られるんですねー。
1羽はムナグロに混じって広い草地にいました。4羽はそこから数百メートル離れた住宅街ど真ん中の数百坪ほどの造成地にいました。1日で5羽もオオチドリを観察したのは初めてです。
ヤツガシラも探しに行こうと予定していたのですが、オオチドリで満足してしまったので帰宅しました。^^
A beautiful Greater Sand Plover in summer plumage.
The first Greater Sand Plover I spotted was mixed in with a flock of several hundred Pacific Golden Plovers.

The closest Greater Sand Plover to approach me. When I sat and waited, they would sometimes come near on their own while foraging.
海岸にも春の渡り鳥が続々と現れています。豊見城市の三角池にはシマアジが1羽入っていました。たくさんいたコガモは渡去したようです。ハシビロガモはまだ残っています。
糸満市の北名城ビーチ近くの干潟には、オオソリハシシギ6羽とホウロクシギ1羽が渡りで疲れた翼を休めていました。
昨日、発見したオオチドリ5羽 は今日も同じ草地で餌をあさっていました。何日ぐらい滞在するのでしょうか。

There was also one Bar-tailed Godwit in breeding plumage.

When what appeared to be a migrating Grey-faced Buzzard soared overhead during the spring migration, the flock of Bar-tailed Godwits flew off to a distant beach.
