We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
レンカクが1羽飛来しました。夏季のレンカクは5月下旬から6月いっぱいぐらいまでが時期となります。
今季は少なめなベニバトも飛来しました。ベニバトは一昨年が当たり年で二十数羽の群れが入ったりしましたが、昨年秋と今季は少なめです。
クロハラアジサシのピークは過ぎたようですが、ぱらぱらと通過中。季節外れのユリカモメも確認。 先週の個体 とは別のようです。

Crimson Dove, male. First-summer, perhaps.
White-winged Tern, winter plumage. It was catching grasshoppers.
Black-headed Gull in a rice paddy. Second-winter plumage.
リュウキュウアカショウビンは、抱卵、育雛しているペアが多いですが、今年は個体数が多いのであちこちで出会います。早いところでは、今月末ぐらいから巣立ちが始まると思われます。
カンムリワシも子育て中です。稲刈りやサトウキビの夏植えが始まりましたので、餌取りなどを見る機会が増えてきました。
一昨年、ミツバチが営巣していた樹洞を乗っ取ったリュウキュウコノハズク は、今年も同じところで子育てしているようです。

A Crested Serpent Eagle that caught a Cane Toad in a field being turned over in preparation for summer planting of sugarcane.
The crows were a nuisance, so it carried the prey into the undergrowth before eating.

A Ryukyu Scops Owl was peering out from its nest hole. Presumably the same female individual I photographed two years ago.
