リュウキュウコノハズク繁殖開始
近所の雑木林でリュウキュウコノハズクが営巣していました。鳥友に連絡して二人で観察していると、もう一羽も現れました。
順調にいけば7月には可愛らしいヒナが姿を現すでしょう。 昨年は同所で3羽のヒナ が巣立っています。
昨年も同じエリアでコノハズク を見つけていますが、このペアとは営巣木が離れているのと鳴き声は2カ所で聞こえているので別ペアだと思われます。
I was able to see a Ryukyu Scops Owl in daylight for the first time in a while. A male.
The tree hollow where it was perched is believed to be the nest.
In the woodland where the Oriental Scops Owl raises its young, Ruddy Kingfishers, Brown Hawk-Owls, and Japanese Paradise Flycatchers also nest every year.
This is the female Oriental Scops Owl paired with the individual above. She can be distinguished from the owl above by her darker ear tufts. She was peering out from the nest tree.
