We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
カンムリワシに煽られて姿を消していたヒシクイ2羽 を別の田んぼで再発見しました。刈り取りが終わった田んぼの端っこでじっとしていた。ちなみに一緒にいたサカツラガンも他の田んぼへ移動しました。いろいろストレスがあったからなー。
The Tundra Bean Geese moved to a different paddy. The Swan Geese that had been with them also moved to a different paddy.
石垣島では非常に珍しいモズ を先日見つけましたが、今日は今季2羽目となるモズを見つけてしまいました。本土のモズに比べると過眼線の色がずいぶん淡く感じるのですが、大陸からやってきた可能性もありますね。
前回の記事で「沖縄では次はいつ見られるか分かりません」とか書いていますが、1カ月を待たずして見つかりました…。でも、沖縄ではかなり稀なのは間違いありません。
前回は、オスの成鳥でしたが、今回はメスの成鳥です。
Adult female Bull-headed Shrike. Same build as the male I found last time.
It was catching grasshoppers and lardering them. Like the male last time, this shrike makes larders quite frequently. I have never seen a Brown Shrike lardering.
Pinning down a grasshopper caught in its foot. The head is overall rufous-brown.
Rear view. The back is uniformly rufous-brown as well.
