GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TOUR
We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
またまた、出勤前にカンムリワシ。^^
A fierce face, but this is a female. ^^
It was catching frogs flushed out by the rice harvest.
This one had caught a grasshopper.
It was too far to one edge of the frame, so I cropped vertically. ^^;
イヌワシ、クマタカを見にいくも、両方とも一瞬見られただけ…。^^;
The weather was fine and warm, but the Golden Eagle never showed…
No Mountain Hawk-Eagle either…
On the second day the weather turned bad — snow at the summit….
実家に帰ったついでにチュウヒを見てきました。ハイイロチュウヒはきれいです。 あいにく、チュウヒが遠かったのと、途中で曇ってしまいましたが…。

Hearing the call of this area's resident bird, it gets excited and raises its crest.

It had been pushed aside by a Purple Heron. Apparently it has many natural enemies, including harriers and falcons.
A Short-eared Owl hiding in the grass. The bill scar distinguishes it from the individual above.

An Osprey carrying prey passed overhead.
カンムリワシの幼鳥3連発です。^^ それぞれの幼鳥に個性があって面白い。

A friendly juvenile. Quite a capable hunter too. Everyone's favourite. ^^
A feisty juvenile. It chases after adults trying to steal their catch!!
警戒心の薄そうなチョウゲンボウがいました。ミサゴは、ここ数日は毎日同じような場所で上空を通過しますが高い…。^^;
Successful hunt. It's holding a grasshopper in its bill. ^^

平田原の田んぼでジャワアカガシラサギ。
I thought a Chinese Pond Heron was perched on a branch, but it turned out to be a Javan Pond Heron.
The Javan Pond Heron appeared to be catching small insects in a field together with a flock of Eastern Cattle Egrets and others.
A Yellow Bittern in its camouflage pose, but with no reeds around it's completely exposed.

カンムリワシもそうだけど、ズグロミゾゴイも平気で食っていました。毒の影響はないのかなー?

After eating its prey, it heads back to its favourite perch.
It was flying back and forth between the paddy ridges to catch crabs.
