GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TOUR
We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
カンムリワシの多い一日でした。合計、8羽のカンムリワシをみた。完全に繁殖シーズンに入ってしまうとなかなかみられなくなるので今のうち!

Even getting bitten by bloodsuckers doesn't matter! With this kind of resolution, I think the 600mm f/4 with a 1.4x extender is more practical than the 500mm f/4.

This Crested Serpent Eagle was perched in a tree along the roadside. Take it slow on the Yaeyama roads!
ホタルの撮影にいったら、日没寸前アカショウビン2羽確認。 昨年も、初観察は2羽同時だった。
風が強いのと、気温があがらんのとでいまいちだった。

A large number of Yaeyama fireflies came out. The hillside felt like it was blanketed in their light. The photos are so-so, but my eye should be back in by around May….

谷へ20〜30メートルおりてみたら回り一面ホタルに囲まれた!

カメラ2台体制でヤエヤマボタルの撮影にのぞみました。7Dを久しぶりに使ったけど、高感度でノイズがおおいなー。ノイズリダクションをかければ、何とかなるけど…。

17–40mm, approximately 10-minute exposure. The lens is slow and wide-angle, so it takes a very long exposure to capture the fireflies….
4/7に初観察以来、やっと写真が撮れた!日没寸前には、どこからともなくわいてきた羽アリを、ペアで空中でキャッチしまくってた。求愛給餌はまだしないみたい…。

Ryukyu Kingfisher, male. The right foot is deformed. Just before dusk, the pair were repeatedly catching winged ants in mid-air. You can just see a few ant wings sticking out from the tip of the bill.

今期、初のキイロスジボタルが観察できました。
Kiirosujibotaru fireflies are climbing the tree in the middle.
本日は、4羽のアカショウビン!求愛給餌をやりそうな枝も発見できました!!
昨年のサンコウチョウの営巣地 の大木には、リュウキュウツミが営巣しそうな感じで、鳥の陰がうすい…。メスのツミがカラスを追いまくってた。

前日は、南西の風が吹いてたのに、当日は北東の風。もちろん、気温、湿度ともに下がりホタルのでがわるかった…。

アカショウビンが巣作りに入っています。朽ちた木を一生懸命ほっていました。カラスが近づくと『ギャー』と鳴いておっぱらっていました。
