A juvenile Crested Serpent Eagle burst out of the undergrowth and landed on a branch directly overhead. I slipped away quietly so as not to startle it… ^^;

A juvenile Crested Serpent Eagle perched on a snag in the wetland, watching for prey. Another juvenile was perched nearby as well.

The other juvenile. The first one was driven off by an adult, but this one ignored being sandwiched between two adults. ^^;

Scrambled by an adult, it just threatened back and wouldn't budge. A pretty nervy juvenile.

Returning the adult's threat calls with threats of its own!!

When I'm photographing Crested Serpent Eagles, a Pale Thrush will sometimes appear, calling in alarm.

It had caught a land crab.

Even on a well-populated branch, around 20 individuals at most. ^^;

They take flight when approached.

When I open and close my hand, the Ideopsis similis moves its wings in time with it.

The wintering grounds are streams like this.

The trees growing here are larger than in other valleys. I wonder if they've been here a long time?

The nictitating membrane of the right eye didn't seem to open fully. There are no injuries, so once its weight recovers it should be releasable back to the wild.

The adult was actively foraging even in the rain.

After eating, it cleaned its bill on a branch. ^^
