石垣島の猛禽類
石垣島で繁殖する猛禽類は、カンムリワシをはじめ、カタグロトビとリュウキュウツミです。越冬するのは、サシバやチョウゲンボウ、ハヤブサ、ミサゴなどがいます。
昨シーズン、繁殖成績が非常に悪かったカンムリワシは、今シーズンはうまくいったようで白い幼鳥があちこちで観察されます。
サシバは、ほとんど北上してしまいましたが、たまに見かける個体は繁殖に参加しない昨年生まれの個体ばかりです。チョウゲンボウも同様に若い個体が少し残っています。
カタグロトビは年に複数回子育てするという繁殖力の旺盛さから、石垣島のあちこちで見られるぐらい個体数を増やしています。与那国島や西表島でも確認されています。
猛禽類たちが餌場にする畑にはツメナガセキレイの20羽ほどの群れが入っていました。

A Black-winged Kite that failed to breed. According to someone who observes them daily, there was an irresponsible person who approached the nest tree on foot.

A Grey-faced Buzzard that hasn't migrated yet. Last year's birds don't take part in breeding, so perhaps they're in no hurry?
