オオアジサシ逗留中
5月10日に70羽以上が今季初飛来したオオアジサシはまだ大半が石垣島に逗留中。この後、繁殖地の尖閣諸島へ渡っていきます。
ここ数日、天気の悪い八重山地方ですが、オオアジサシたちは二十数羽が海面を飛び回り、獲物を捕まえていました。
大きなオオアジサシに交じり小さなアジサシも舞っています。双眼鏡でのぞいてみるとクロハラアジサシが数羽いました。オオアジサシとともに獲物を狙っていました。
They come quite close, but with nothing but a pure white sky as the background, the Great Crested Terns just don't look their best. ^^;
Spotting prey and diving.
Great Crested Terns were diving all over the place, but every single one was too far away…
A few White-winged Terns were also mixed in with the Great Crested Tern flock, hunting alongside them.
The rain was getting heavier, but the Great Crested Terns were feeding actively. I, with no waterproofing, beat a retreat….
Without my noticing, my three-year-old son — who has lately been getting into cameras — had crept up behind me while I was shooting Great Crested Terns and taken a photo of me. ^^
