同じ田んぼにはバンが4羽のヒナを連れてやってきました。ソリハシセイタカシギもバンの親子も農家の人が作業しても警戒心ゼロでした。^^

近所のリュウキュウアオバズクは今夜が巣立ちと見ていましたが、出ませんでした。^^; 雨が降ったり止んだりの天気なので順延したのでしょうか。樹洞には3羽のヒナの姿が見えました。
リュウキュウコノハズクもメスは抱卵中の個体が多いようで、20羽以上確認したコノハズクのうちメスはたったの2羽でした。
林道ではリュウキュウツミが枝で休んでいました。尾羽が短いので巣立った幼鳥と思ったら違いました。尾羽が何かのアクシデントでちぎれた若いメスのリュウキュウツミでした。

An individual whose short tail made it look like a fledgling Japanese Sparrowhawk in silhouette. On closer inspection, it was a young female Ryukyu Sparrowhawk. Could it be breeding nearby?
今日は久しぶりの一日フリー。午前中は洗濯とか不動産屋へ書類の提出とかあって午後からですが、まともに鳥見に行けました。半日にしては得るものが多い一日でした。^^
昨日の夜探 でアオバズクが営巣していると思われる場所をまたまた近所で見つけたので、今日の午後、回ってみると2羽のヒナがすでに巣立っていました。営巣木も確認できました。
さらに数十メートル離れた雑木林ではリュウキュウツミも営巣していたようでこちらも2羽のヒナが巣立っていました。
前から営巣を観察しているアオバズクは昨夜午前2時ごろは3羽とも全て巣内にいたのですが、そのあと巣立ったようで夕方、1羽が親鳥と近くの木に止まっていました。
ここは夕方になるとカラスが数十羽でやってくるので、カラスの被害を心配していましたが、大丈夫そうでした。
近くの雑木林では4月ごろから目をつけていたのですが、巣は探せずにいたリュウキュウツミもヒナが2羽巣立っていました。不思議なことにここのツミはオスもメスも鳴き声をあげません。なので余計に探すのに苦労しました。^^;
近くでズグロミゾゴイの巣らしきを発見したのですが確定できず。今後の観察課題。
A fledgling Brown Hawk-Owl. The parents hunted actively even during the day and brought in prey, but as soon as a chick received a catch it fled to keep the others from stealing it, so I couldn't get a shot of any of them actually eating…

It appears this Brown Hawk-Owl fledged quite late — after 2 a.m. last night. The fledging date I predicted on this day turned out to be exactly right. ^^ The parent on the left is the female.

Fledgling Ryukyu Sparrowhawks. There were two chicks, but I could only photograph one. It is gripping prey received from a parent in its feet. A Japanese White-eye, perhaps?
