沖縄本島南部で今季2羽目のヤツガシラ(動画あり)
一昨日は、沖縄本島北部の金武町伊芸地区でヤツガシラ を発見しましたが、今日は本島南部のなんでもない公園で今季2羽目となるヤツガシラを見つけてしまいました。^^ 今回の個体はかなり愛想がよく近くを軽トラや散歩の人が通ってもあまり警戒していませんでした。
さらにその後、海岸へ他の鳥を見に行くとなんと上空を3羽目のヤツガシラが通過。後背地の畑に降りたと思われますが、時間切れで探し出せませんでした。ヤツガシラの飛来の少ない沖縄本島ですが、今年は当たり年なんでしょうかね。
When I found it, the Eurasian Hoopoe was taking a dust bath at the edge of the park.
On the lawn, the Eurasian Hoopoe's prey turned out to be earwigs.
At a slightly damp patch at the edge of the lawn, it was eating some kind of larva.

It caught another earwig.
It caught over a dozen earwigs in just the time I was watching.
Probing deep with its long bill, searching for food.
