There are four chicks. They should fledge tomorrow or the day after!!

For about an hour after I set up the blind they brought no food at all, but once it started to drizzle and the humidity rose they came with food about five times in two hours. Every item was a snail.

The snail is quite large — it might even be a Giant African Snail. Either way, the Ruddy Kingfisher is a useful bird for farms.

A Yaeyama palm-lined path that must be at least 120 metres long. Apparently a café is planned to open at the far end.

This time it brought a Crested tree lizard.

This fledging was surprisingly uneventful. I got the settings wrong, so the focus is a bit soft.

It flew over the blind and nearly 20 metres out. After that, it was called by the parent and disappeared into the undergrowth….

This Javan Pond Heron shows no fear of people and just keeps walking closer….

Among so many drab waders, the Black-winged Stilt is really beautiful.
