ハイイロオウチュウ越冬中、ソリハシセイタカシギ8羽
ハイイロオウチュウが正月から石垣島で越冬中です。電線から飛んでくる膜翅目の何かを捕まえていました。オウチュウは毎年、観察できますが、石垣島でのハイイロオウチュウは久しぶりの観察となりました。特に冬の時季は珍しいです。
河口には珍しくダイシャクシギが飛来していました。
A White-bellied Drongo was frequently coming out onto the power lines and making flying catches of insects in the air. It's already in wintering mode and looks set to stay a good while.
The first bird I photographed in the new year was a Far Eastern Curlew. It was a notably unwary individual.
A Pied Avocet also lingering since the New Year. Wintering here too, it seems.
