9月のアカショウビンとキンバト(動画あり)
石垣島のリュウキュウアカショウビンは鳴き声を聞く機会もほとんどなくなりました。冬羽への換羽が進行中でどの個体もみすぼらしい状態です。9月中にほとんどの個体が南へ渡り、アカショウビンを見つけるのが難しくなっていきます。
キンバトは落果しオオバギやヤンバルアカメガシワの種子を食べるために道路沿いで見る機会が増えています。
A Ruddy Kingfisher from the neighbourhood. Moult is well advanced and the plumage looks ragged. September has arrived and departure is not far off. I went out to photograph it while it still looks lively, before it disappears.
From August onwards, singing becomes increasingly rare. They can still be seen throughout September, but by October most individuals have moved on to their wintering grounds.
