第5回石垣島ジシギ合宿開催!!
今季も石垣島ジシギ合宿を開催しました。おかげさまで、5シーズン連続の実施となりました。今回は1人の参加。朝9時に集合して、午後4時ごろまでジシギを見まくりました。
例年より1カ月ほど遅い開催となったのでハリオシギの個体数が少なく、数十羽見た中で2個体のみでした。一番多いのがチュウジシギでピークを迎えているので幼鳥ばかり。タシギは成鳥に続き、幼鳥が入りだし、これからピークを迎えます。

今季初のキアシシギ幼鳥やオバシギ、オジロトウネン幼鳥が見られました。アオアシシギは幼鳥が増えだしています。ジシギを見ていると久しぶりにヒクイナも現れました。
A Pin-tailed Snipe finally squeezed out after scanning through dozens of snipe.
While watching a group of around ten Swinhoe's Snipes, a snipe appeared in the grass. It was a typical Pin-tailed Snipe juvenile, so I followed it with binoculars hoping to get a look at the tail feathers — and it bathed rather sooner than I expected. ^^

The needle-like tail feathers are also visible during preening.
A different Pin-tailed Snipe individual. Also a juvenile, and it was together with the bird above. They look like typical examples of a similar type, so they may be siblings. I would have liked to show a variety of Pin-tailed Snipe types, but these two were the only Pin-tailed Snipes this time.
