カタグロトビ繁殖スタート、アマツバメ到着
自宅から近い林内で数年前から継続して繁殖しているカタグロトビが今年最初の繁殖に入る模様。石垣島のカタグロトビは年に2回ほど子育てし、時期もあまり定まっていないようですが暖かい時期の方が成功率は高いでしょう。カタグロトビは、今や石垣島の南部の町の近くから北部の平久保までどこでも見られるようになりました。
田んぼには、アマツバメが到着しました。5羽程度がツバメとともに乱舞していました。今季初のウズラシギや越冬組と区別しにくいですが、移動組と思われるアカアシシギも確認。セイタカシギも少しずつどうか中です。

The first Fork-tailed Swift of the season.
They fly energetically over the paddies without any sign of fatigue — quite a contrast to the waders, which look utterly worn out from their long journey.
The first Sharp-tailed Sandpiper of the season. Extremely tired-looking — eyes closing, not moving at all — but one night's rest and they bounce back.
A solitary Common Redshank. It turned up in a paddy that hasn't been flooded over winter, so it's likely a spring passage bird.
