第3回石垣島ジシギ合宿開催!!
一部に大変好評いただいている第3回石垣島ジシギ合宿を開催しました。参加者は愛知県から。偶然にも第1回から第3回までの参加者は全員愛知県民でした。^^;
今回はどうしても外せない仕事が入り、ジシギの観察は3時間程度でしたが、一つのエリアの田んぼでみっちりジシギ20羽程度を穴が開くほど観察しました。
今季はジシギの個体数は例年通り多いのですが、ハリオシギの数が少なくて苦労しました。一方で、興味深いチュウジシギを観察することができましたのでジシギ合宿としては大成功となりました。^^

Same individual as above. With Swinhoe's Snipe you usually can't see the outer tail feathers, which is what gives it that Swinhoe's feel — but on this individual I could just about make them out. After bathing, I fired off more than 700 frames in 2 minutes 30 seconds to get this shot. The tail feathers are visible like this, you can see.

The tail feathers are narrow, but long enough to be visible in this position. Could there be hybrids between Swinhoe's Snipe and Pin-tailed Snipe?
