An overwintering Lesser Whitethroat appeared right in front of me. I've confirmed the ID by call, but I also think I can make out the classic Lesser Whitethroat feature of P10 being shorter than the primary coverts. ^^;
Same individual as above. It was moving along the branches searching for insects to eat.
The Lesser Whitethroat spotted prey at a branch tip and lunged for it.
The Pin-tailed Snipe I found a few days ago is still present. It's a relaxed individual and keeps walking closer and closer.
Same individual as above. It's probing its bill into the soil, searching for prey.
Pin-tailed Snipe preening.
A Swinhoe's Snipe in the distance. The second of the season.
Common Snipe numbers are up and down as wintering birds and northbound migrants mix together.
