石垣島の繁殖鳥 カタグロトビ、アカショウビン、アオバズク、ツミ
カタグロトビ、リュウキュウアカショウビン、リュウキュウアオバズク、リュウキュウツミの子育ての様子を確認してきました。
近所のカタグロトビは先日、3羽が巣立ち。営巣木付近をうろうろしながら親鳥からエサをもらったりして狩りの練習中。すぐそばではツミが営巣中。きょうはオスもメスも巣の外にいたのでヒナが大きくなっているのかもしれません。カタグロトビとツミはすぐ近くでの繁殖ですが、お互いに全く干渉しないのが不思議です。ほかのエリアのツミはすでに親元を離れているのもいます。
アカショウビンの子育ても順調のようで親鳥が巣のヒナへ持ってくる獲物が日に日に大型になっています。
アオバズクも観察している数カ所で順調のようで昼間、オスもメスも巣外に出ているペアも出てきました。巣の中のヒナが大きくなっている証拠です。また、きょう自宅近くで新たに見つけたアオバズクの巣は外から丸見えで高さもそれほどないので観察が楽しそうです。今季は巣内が見えるアオバズクは2ペア。以前、オオタニワタリの上や公衆トイレの床、アパートの階段下の地面などの営巣も見たことがあります。アオバズクはいろいろな所で繁殖しますね。^^;
今季、自宅から徒歩圏内で繁殖が確認された主な鳥類はカタグロトビ、ツミ、アカショウビン、アオバズク、コノハズク。鳴き声や行動からキンバト、ズアカアオバト、オオクイナ、シロハラクイナも繁殖していると思われますが、巣は見つけられず…。

The adult was also doing a fluttering display flight.
They are breeding in a mixed stand of Ryukyu Pine and Casuarina, but the species of tree the nest is in is unknown.

A Ruddy Kingfisher in the neighbourhood — also in the middle of raising chicks. It is breeding very close to where the Black-winged Kites and Japanese Sparrowhawk are nesting.

A female Japanese Sparrowhawk near my home. She is spending a lot of time away from the nest — does that mean the chicks have grown large?
