タカサゴモズ、ヤツガシラ、カンムリワシ幼鳥、メボソムシクイなど
沖縄本島からの友人と石垣島内を巡りバードウオッチング。
行方不明になっていたタカサゴモズを再発見。獲物を求めて広い範囲を飛び回っていました。スポッターさんに場所をお知らせ済みなので、タカサゴモズを見たい方はお問い合わせください。^^
ヤツガシラもまだまだ滞在中。警戒心もなく撮り放題の個体です。
カンムリワシの幼鳥は、田んぼでオオヒキガエルを捕まえていた。
石垣島など八重山ではコムシクイとメボソムシクイが少数越冬しています。ズグロミゾゴイを撮影していると「ジッ、ジッ」とメボソムシクイの地鳴きが聞こえてきました。双眼鏡で声の方角を探してみるとメボソムシクイを発見。ちょこまか動き回りますが、なんとか写真に収めることもできました。^^
ジョウビタキはなぜかヤツガシラの砂浴びを見学。小さな虫が飛び出すのでも狙っているのか?
ズグロミゾゴイは県道沿いを呑気に歩いていました。交通事故に遭わないか心配です。
友人は、トラツグミやハチジョウツグミ 、アカハラ、シロハラ、美しいシマアカモズのオス、カモやシギ、チドリなどもバッチリ撮影できて「石垣島は鳥だらけだ!!」と大変喜んでくれているようでした。
ほかにもアオシギとブラックサシバが昨年から引き続き滞在中です。^^

A Eurasian Hoopoe dust-bathing.
Dust-bathing seems to be a moment of pure bliss for the Hoopoe.
Even between bouts of dust-bathing, the ever-hungry Hoopoe was plunging its long bill into the ground and catching cockroaches.
It tossed the prey into the air and swallowed it whole.
A juvenile Crested Serpent Eagle that caught a Cane Toad. An individual with dark eyes.
With a tractor working nearby approaching, the juvenile Crested Serpent Eagle gripped the frog in its talons and flew off.
It landed just a short distance from where it had been.
A wintering Japanese Leaf Warbler. I could identify it because I heard it call.
The Japanese Leaf Warbler moves quickly, so I only managed to get a few shots.
A Malayan Night Heron walking along the footpath.
A wintering Daurian Redstart. The numbers of wintering Daurian Redstarts and thrushes can vary considerably from year to year, but this season there are quite a few. Scaly Thrushes are numerous too.
