繁殖期序盤で活性の高いアカショウビン
石垣島のリュウキュウアカショウビンのポイントを3カ所回ると8個体を確認することができました。すでにペアは形成されているようで掘られた巣も3カ所ありました。
バンナ公園内では、ペア同士が隣り合って縄張りを持っており、時折、激しく追いかけ合っていました。来月から繁殖期本番を迎え、早いペアでは6月下旬にはヒナが巣立ちます。
リュウキュウキビタキとリュウキュウサンコウチョウもペアで行動していましたが、茂みの奥なので写真は難しいです。

The Crested tree lizard is biting the Ruddy Kingfisher at the throat in a last act of resistance.
Despite its efforts, the Crested tree lizard has been swallowed by the Ruddy Kingfisher — the tail is still visible at the tip of the bill.
