We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
潮の満ちてきた海岸でダイシャクシギ1羽とダイゼン11羽、アオアシシギ4羽が休んでいました。
今年は、ダイシャクシギを見る機会が少ないです。天気が安定していたので、通過してしまったか?

先日、沖縄本島中部で見つけた暗色型サシバ 、まだいました。越冬しますね。
暗色型サシバが餌場にする畑の周囲には、普通のサシバが合わせて4羽がひしめき合っている。^^; 隣の電柱同士の距離にいるのですが、喧嘩するようなことはありませんでした。密度が高すぎるので縄張りを主張することを諦めたのか?
今日の暗色型サシバは、電柱や防風林を行ったり来たりしてバッタなどを捕まえているようですた。
近くの畑には、チョウゲンボウも数羽。猛禽類の多いエリアです。

Common Buzzards are everywhere.
Watching for prey from the windbreak forest.
A fine dark morph.
It spotted prey and took off. The distance to the buzzard was considerable, and with the high temperature the heat shimmer gets in the way of the shots. ^^;
Its favourite casuarina tree. Every now and then it was mobbed by an Eurasian Sparrowhawk.
There were also several Common Kestrels. This year, apart from Grey-faced Buzzards and Common Kestrels, various raptors are turning up all over the Okinawa mainland.
