GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TOUR
We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
具志干潟上空を見慣れない鳥が飛んでいて双眼鏡で覗くとカモメの幼鳥でした。沖縄では迷鳥で、私も初めて見ました。
具志干潟から海岸沿いをどんどん南下し、死んで浮いている魚を見つけてくわえ取ると、近くの与根漁港に降りました。車でその場へ急行するとカモメは、漁港前の砂浜で魚をつついていました。
カモメは、魚をほんの少し食っただけで再び舞い上がり、さらに南の方へ飛び去りました。

キバラガラは、10月23日に初めて発見されて以来、確認例が増え、沖縄本島内の複数箇所に十数羽が飛来している模様。私もそれらしいところで探し出してやろうと南城市の海岸沿いのマツやモクマオウの防潮林などを探索していたら、溺死体と遭遇してしまいました。近くにいた釣り客が警察に電話すると警察関係車両と消防車両、救急車、ドクターヘリが来て大騒ぎになりました。
その場でバードウォッチングを続けるのもあれなんで、場所を移動していつもの公園で久しぶりにキバラガラに会ってきました。以前は、ほかの小鳥に混ざらずにキバラガラだけで行動していましたが、きょうは、メジロやシジュウカラ、コゲラと混群をつくりガジュマルやアコウの実を食っていました。場所もかなり移動していた。
同じ公園で、今季初のジョウビタキにも会えました。園内の池では、カワセミのオスとメスが求愛のような行動をとっていた。カワセミの求愛行動は見たことないのですが…。^^;
A Yellow-bellied Tit juvenile after a long absence. It was mixed in with flocks of Japanese White-eyes and Japanese Tits. I was just barely able to find it by its smaller body size and call, but it was quite a task. ^^;
