True to the origin of its name, I was able to confirm that the Sanderling has only three toes. ^^

Opportunities to observe Sanderlings up close on Okinawa Island are rare, so I took plenty of photos.

Still in winter plumage, perhaps?

All the green in front of and behind the Brant is the seaweed it feeds on.

It was pulling out the seaweed one mouthful at a time and eating it. There's no shortage of food, but I wonder how long it will stay.

The wind was strong, so the seaweed was blown right out of the Brant's bill. ^^;
