サシバ暗色型 やっと撮れた
暗色型のサシバは、昨年の10月ごろ沖縄本島でたった一度だけ金武の上空を飛ぶ姿を確認。その時は、撮影には至らずで悔しい思いをしていたが本日、念願の撮影がかなった。^^ 暗い色合いが背景に溶け込んでしまい、普通のサシバより見つけにくいですね…。^^;
近くにいる他のサシバやカラスに追いやられていたので、春の渡りで南の方から新たにやってきた個体なのだろうか? どちらにせよ、3月末には沖縄本島のサシバはほとんどが繁殖地へ旅立ちいなくなります。
この日は、20羽以上のサシバを観察。半数近くが幼鳥でした。

Other Grey-faced Buzzards kept coming over to hassle it, so it couldn't seem to settle.

A Grey-faced Buzzard perched right where farm vehicles were passing back and forth. They're so used to people here that I could get this close!!
About half the Grey-faced Buzzards I saw today were juveniles.
