マガンの親子7羽ほか(動画あり)
沖縄では、比較的珍しいマガンの親子が金武町の田んぼにやってきました。海の方からやってきて田んぼの上空を幾度か旋回したのち100メートルほど離れた休耕田に着陸。長旅ご苦労様。田んぼに降り立ったマガンたちは、疲れた様子で立ちすくんでいましたが、しばらくすると草の葉や種を食いだした。夕方ごろには、空腹も収まったようで田んぼから上がると畔で眠る体勢に。いつまで滞在するのかな。
他には、コガモやヒドリガモ、ハシビロガモ、セキレイ類が増えていた。今季初のオオバンも数カ所で確認できました。シギは少なくなった。ヒバリシギとセイタカシギぐらいがぼちぼち。
小さな田んぼには、サシバが4羽ほど陣取っており、時折、お互いに近づきすぎて威嚇の上、強い方が弱い方を追い出していたが山に一旦隠れるもしばらくすると舞い戻っていた。居心地のよい田んぼなのだろう。
仕事が忙しく、10日以上バードウオッチングできなかった間に冬の鳥がどんどん増えていました。季節は進み出すとあっという間。沖縄本島では、稲刈りも始まりました。
An adult Greater White-fronted Goose. The first time I've seen a Greater White-fronted Goose on Okinawa-hontō. On Ishigaki-jima I see them about once a year, but usually just 1–2 birds.

This Greater White-fronted Goose family seemed fairly unafraid of people; over two hours of watching, they eventually came to within about 10 metres.

First Eurasian Coot of the season. They seem to be turning up all over the place.
White Wagtails and Eastern Yellow Wagtails were also increasing in number.
Eurasian Wigeon. In a mixed flock of about 10, including Mallard and Northern Shoveler.
