サシバの渡り遅刻 ^^;
今朝は、下道、高速とも渋滞にはまって名護岳に着いたのは午前9時前。サシバを50羽ほど見て終了でした…。^^; そうです。遅刻したのは私。サシバは、時間通りに渡って行きました。
仕方ないので名護市から少し脚を伸ばして、沖縄本島最北端の辺戸岬まで回ってきました。途中、海上からやってくるサシバの群れも観察できました。かなり低い高度(50メートル以下)でやって来たので驚いた。田んぼや林道、ダムなどいたるところにサシバがおり、電柱から獲物を探したり、数羽のタカ柱をつくったり。
喜如嘉の田んぼには、5羽のサシバが休息していました。明日の渡りに備えているのでしょう。

An adult Grey-faced Buzzard. It was preying on frogs and similar prey.
Juvenile Grey-faced Buzzards were being chased off whenever an adult spotted them. This juvenile was driven away by an adult and came directly overhead. It's keeping a wary eye on the adult in its line of sight. Handheld shooting was tough… ^^;

Ospreys are passing through on migration too.
The island visible on the horizon in the middle is Yoron-jima. The weather was fine and it was a day of pleasant breezes.
