GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TOUR
We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.
カンムリワシは子育ても終わり、人目につく田んぼや牧場に現れるようになりました。今日は、4羽を確認。アカショウビンは1羽だけ…。
A Crested Serpent Eagle came close. It's used to being around people working in the fields, so it shows no fear. ^^;
This individual was being pushed out by a younger bird. It was the original territory holder, though. ^^;

カンムリワシの幼鳥はまだ見えませが、田んぼでカンムリワシを見かけることが多くなりました。
Poor Sakishima frog.
This is the "Aggai" that was rescued on 17 February 2014 and released on 8 March 2014. Its white juvenile plumage had been replaced by immature feathers.
There was a Black-crowned Night Heron in the dredged waterway.
アカショウビンもいよいよ少なくなってきました。石垣島では数少なく、警戒心が強いカワセミが田んぼにいました。
シマアカモズを1羽確認。ツメナガセキレイやシギチは少しずつですが増えています。
A Ruddy Kingfisher in tatters from moulting before its southward migration. ^^;
This spot must be a departure point for Ruddy Kingfishers heading south — I can observe them here every year around the end of the season.
It looks well over one size smaller than the Ruddy Kingfisher. Very wary, so it stays far away. ^^;
やんばるでリュウキュウオオコノハズクを見てきました。2羽のオオコノハズクが同じ場所を狩り場にして、リュウキュウカジカガエルを捕っていました。
ホントウアカヒゲは林道のあちこちにいました。
It had perched on a nice tree, but flew off before I could press the shutter. ^^;

A female Ryukyu Robin. It still looked young.
Dragonflies were plentiful near the stream. Their metallic colouring was strikingly vivid and beautiful in the dim surroundings.
