GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TOUR
We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.

A male and female Brown Hawk-Owl perched side by side. They appear to be nesting in a tree hollow very close by.
Eyes like glass marbles.
A Brown Hawk-Owl nesting in a different spot from the one above. I couldn't find its mate…
I only had a 200mm with me, so it's a distant shot.
I also found two Ruddy Kingfisher nest sites. Flat Taketomi Island makes it easy to find birds.
昨夜からのコノハズク2羽が今夜巣立ちしました!!
Pre-fledging stretch!!
The Oriental Scops Owl looks round and clumsy, but as this photo shows, its wings are remarkably long relative to its body. In flight it is agile enough to be mistaken for a hawk. The surface of its feathers is also covered in fine, velvet-like plumage that lets it fly without making a sound.
The parent bird is the one in the middle, holding a gecko in its bill.
