We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.

今日は、ミュージシャンの iora とバードウオッチングをして来ました。野鳥に関する曲も多数手掛けており、石垣島のバードウオッチャーたちは、彼らがライブにやってくると必ず見に行きます。
昨日のコシャクシギ も案内したのですが残念ながら見つけられず。^^;
その代わり、サルハマシギやコアオアシシギ、ioraの好きなツバメチドリは近くで観察できた。サルハマシギとコアオアシシギはライファーだそうです。^^
今シーズン初のコアジサシも観察できました。
ハヤブサがやってくると十数羽のチュウシャクシギや100羽以上のムナグロなどが一斉に飛び立ち海岸は一時騒然となりました。

チュウシャクシギのようなアオアシシギのような、聞きなれない鳴き声が上空から聞こえて来たと思ったら、コシャクシギが4羽目の前に舞い降りました。こんなことがあっていいのか!?
コシャクシギは、石垣島でも何度か見たことはあるのですが、はるか100メートル彼方にいるのを双眼鏡で見たことがあるだけで、実質、ライファーみたいなものです。^^
向こうからこちらへどんどん近づいて来たりと愛想の良いコシャクシギたちでした。昨年もここの環境なら必ずコシャクシギが入ると睨んでいた場所なので4羽のコシャクシギを双眼鏡で見たときはかなり興奮しました…。^^; 島の南側で海に面した牧草地や草地にはコシャクシギ以外にもいろいろな渡り鳥が休憩してそうです。
ツバメチドリの渡りも順調に進んでいるようで、今日も20羽ほどの群れと10羽ほどの群れ、数羽の群れをそれぞれ確認した。

It was a flock of four, but only two fit in the frame at the same time.
Where the Little Whimbrel landed, the grass was tall, and getting a full view of the bird was quite difficult.
It didn't seem particularly wary — when I kept still it kept coming closer and closer.
There were also many Oriental Pratincoles passing through on migration.
Oriental Pratincoles are basically unafraid of people.
先日から観察していたシロチドリの巣 のうちの一つが孵化したようです。可愛らしいヒナを3羽確認できました。これから孵化ラッシュが続き、あたりは小さなヒナだらけになります。^^

久しぶりに金武の芋畑へ行って来た。水路には、美しい夏羽のコアオアシシギ、億首川には、70羽弱のセイタカシギの群れ、畑には夏羽のアマサギ、休耕田には、ジシギ(チュウジシギ?)、夕方になるとどこからともなく、数十羽のタカブシギの群れが田んぼに入りました。
セキレイの仲間もほとんどいなくなり、キセキレイを1羽だけ確認した。
