近所で繁殖中のリュウキュウアカショウビンとリュウキュウアオバズク
アカショウビンとアオバズクが近所で繁殖しています。アカショウビンは、木の朽ちた部分に穴を掘って営巣の準備中。 数日前、カラスと大立ち回りを演じていたアオバズク は大雨にも負けず順調に抱卵しています。
アカショウビンは5月28日、卵の殻と思われるものをくわえて飛んでいるのを見たのですが、どうも違ったようです。孵化には少し早すぎると思っていました。^^;
サンコウチョウも同所で子育てしているのですが、巣の場所までは特定できませんでした。カラスが来るとオスが必死でモビングしていたので近くでメスが抱卵中と思われます。
A female Ruddy Kingfisher, or so it appears. This individual has white feathers mixed in around the lore and behind the eye.
The male paired with the female above. His bill has a few wood shavings on it — he may still have been in the middle of digging the nest hole.
A male Brown Hawk-Owl keeping watch over the incubating female. Brown Hawk-Owls will take prey that passes in front of them even during the day, but this individual is an odd one — it leaves its lookout perch and flies around inside the bright forest searching for food.
I was worried about flooding from the heavy rain, but she was still incubating.
