半月滞在のアカアシチョウゲンボウ
アカアシチョウゲンボウが現れて から半月が経ちました。このまま越冬するのか?!
アカアシチョウゲンボウは、半径1キロぐらいのサトウキビ畑、牧草地を餌場として利用しているようです。きょうは、午前中から刈り取りの終わった海岸沿いの牧草地で大きなショウリョウバッタやネズミを捕まえていました。
警戒心もなく、近くまできてホバリングしたり、車の目の前を飛んだりと活発に餌探しをしていました。いつも邪魔するチョウゲンボウもおらず、落ち着いた感じです。
10日ほど前見つけたうるま市宮城島のアカアシチョウゲンボウ は、あれ以来、姿を見せてくれません。チョウゲンボウの攻撃に嫌気がさし、移動してしまったのだろうか?

I thought it had taken off after a bee, but it overtook the bee and went after a grasshopper instead.
Under a clear autumn sky, it flew around the pasture catching prey.

It also hovered several times, apparently targeting a mouse.
The Amur Falcon's hover is almost identical to that of the Common Kestrel.
