ツミ巣作り完了
今日は、二十四節気の一つ夏至でした。例年、沖縄ではこのころ梅雨が明けます。昨日は、夏至南風も吹いたので平年並みの梅雨明けなら慰霊の日の23日前後に梅雨明けです。沖縄の夏本番です。
1カ月ほど前に見つけたツミのペアの巣作りが完了していました。人を全く恐れないペアです。先月見つけた時は、子どもたちが遊んでいる横で求愛給餌していました。^^;
散歩の人が数メートル横を歩いても逃げません。初めて見つけた時は、メスは翼を広げて威嚇してきましたが、きょうは、こちらのことは全く気にしていないようでした。オスのツミは、地面に降りて翼を広げ虫干しを始める始末!!
完成した巣は、コバテイシの高さは4メートルないぐらいのところに掛けられていました。

This is the female — also a young bird. This year I have been observing a young pair nesting at another site as well. Do Japanese Sparrowhawks pair up with other young individuals?
This is the nest of that pair. Unusually, they built it in a Terminalia catappa.
