石垣島初記録のカンムリオウチュウ(動画あり)

石垣島で初記録となるカンムリオウチュウが現れました。強い風と雨の中、飛んでいる(飛ばされてくる?)虫を捕まえていました。オウチュウよりも体はひと回り大きく、がっしりとしていて、羽毛の光沢は太陽が出ていないにもかかわらず、かなり強い感じでした。
カンムリオウチュウは2000年に日本初記録として与那国島に飛来。以降、沖縄本島や本島周辺離島で数例が確認されています。
日本産オウチュウ属は、今回のカンムリオウチュウで3種コンプリート。国内未記録種のヒメオウチュウの飛来にも期待がかかります。
While at work, a message came in through our group chat: "Greater Racket-tailed Drongo confirmed." I fidgeted through the rest of my shift, then rushed to the spot two hours after the alert — and managed to find the bird in driving rain and wind!!
Thanks to 石垣島BIRD観察, the first to find it, my life list got a new entry. ^^
