In the evening, a chick poked its head out and that's how I found the nest.

Three of the four Ruddy Kingfisher chicks were taken. Hard luck for the kingfishers, but the Japanese Sparrowhawk is also raising young at this time of year.

Its throat is puffed out from singing its heart out.
