Heading into the grass toward its prey.
The wings were clipped at the edge of the frame, so I cropped in heavily. ^^;
A running Crested Serpent Eagle. ^^
GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TOUR
We'll drive you around Ishigaki Island to wherever the birds are showing best that day. Observation is mostly from inside the vehicle, and we keep it to a maximum of 3 guests so everyone can take their time.

シロハラはたくさん入っています。11月15日ぐらいから鳴き声が聞こえるようになってきていますが、まだまだ警戒心が強い模様。近くには、ツグミも渡ってきていましたが、シロハラに追いかけ回されていました。^^;
The Daurian Redstart was catching small insects on the ground.
Harsh backlight… ^^; It was 27°C and hot today, so resting in the shade of a tree.
It was eating mulberries and catching insects on the ground. It arrived from migration not long ago, so it's quite wary.
The Dusky Thrush isn't particularly wary, but this individual was being chased by a Pale Thrush and I couldn't get a decent shot…
Foraging without paying the slightest attention to people jogging past.
アオバズクを出待ちしていたんですが、いつの間にか寝てしまい、起きたら真っ暗でした。^^;
I think this is an Oriental Scops Owl hatched this year. It didn't seem able to call properly yet — the call was strange. ^^; It was startled whenever the adult male called. ^^;
100% crop at ISO 5000, shutter speed 1/30 sec. I hear the 7D Mark II has improved high-ISO performance — it would be great if it's usable up to around ISO 5000. Wonder how it actually holds up?
The only light was an LED street lamp.
The fifth individual this year, a juvenile. I wanted to photograph it in flight, but it seemed a bit weak — could only get about a metre off the ground and couldn't land on a branch… It walked up the mountain slope on foot and made its way up into the trees by climbing branch to branch. One to keep an eye on.
The first individual I found this year. It's always near the utaki. The utaki is off-limits, so I shot from the road.
