日本最南端で繁殖するムクドリ
日本最南端で繁殖しているムクドリ。渡りでは八重山にも越冬のため少数がやってきますがカラムクドリやギンムクドリより少ない程度。
沖縄本島では、那覇市内で少数が繁殖しているようです。

サシバ暗色型 やっと撮れた
暗色型のサシバは、昨年の10月ごろ沖縄本島でたった一度だけ金武の上空を飛ぶ姿を確認。その時は、撮影には至らずで悔しい思いをしていたが本日、念願の撮影がかなった。^^ 暗い色合いが背景に溶け込んでしまい、普通のサシバより見つけにくいですね…。^^;
近くにいる他のサシバやカラスに追いやられていたので、春の渡りで南の方から新たにやってきた個体なのだろうか? どちらにせよ、3月末には沖縄本島のサシバはほとんどが繁殖地へ旅立ちいなくなります。
この日は、20羽以上のサシバを観察。半数近くが幼鳥でした。

About half the Grey-faced Buzzards I saw today were juveniles.

最近の三角池の様子
コガモやハシビロガモもだんだんと少なくなっています。アオアシシギは今月半ばあたりから増えたり減ったり。多いときは、70羽ほどの群れが観察できます。春の渡り組でしょう。
セイタカシギは美しい夏羽に衣替えした個体も増えてきた。
1羽だけいたアカアシシギは三列風切が白く見えます。一部白化個体か?
コチドリやヒバリシギ、バン、オオバン、カルガモなども滞在中。クロツラヘラサギはいたりいなかったり。三角池にいないときは、豊崎干潟にいることが多い。

やっと撮れたアオジ
暑さ寒さも彼岸までというわけで、きょうは、春の彼岸入りでした。沖縄本島のきょうの最高気温は22度。明日、八重山では小浜島で海開きが行われます。20日には春分を迎え、いよいようるずんの季節到来です。
冬の間、何度か見つけてはいたのですが暗かったり、藪の中だったりでなかなか撮影ができなかったアオジをやっと撮ることができた。^^; 先日、やんばるではシベリアアオジの群れを見つけたがこちらも撮影はかなわず…。
きょうのアオジは、牧草地に点在するススキの種子を食っていました。オスのアオジの後ろ姿を見たときは、シベリアアオジかと一瞬迷いました。^^;

越冬ビンズイの群れ
3月1日に第一子が生まれて以来、今までのようにはなかなかバードウオッチングに行けない日々を送っています。
昨年より越冬しているビンズイのポイント近くで取材があったのでついでに様子を見てきた。ビンズイの群れは、当初より同じ場所が気に入っているようで数カ月たった現在も7羽ほどがまだ滞在していました。
ビンズイお気に入りの芝生には、リュウキュウコスミレの花が咲きだしてすっかり春の様相。ビンズイたちも春の気配を感じてそろそろ繁殖の地へ渡っていくことでしょう。

An Olive-backed Pipit was eating pine seeds. In winter when food is scarce, birds eat all sorts of things — Olive-backed Pipits apparently eat pine seeds too.
