It came back with a large centipede.

ヒカゲヘゴで営巣しています。そんなところで営巣するコノハズクは初めて!!

子育て中のメス。ヒナは、孵化後10日ぐらいかなー。

The nest and the feeding ground are unusually close together. ^^;

ある一部のエリアでたくさんいました!!

かなりおっとりして、かつ飛べないので、マングースや野猫にやられたらひとたまりも無いだろうなー。

An unfamiliar field, but after finding this individual I ended up seeing more than ten birds.

For some reason it was sitting down. ^^;

たくさんいましたが、写真が撮れるようなところには、なかなか出てきてくれませんでした。^^;

やんばるの森はたくさんの野鳥がいました。次回は、本気の機材でがんばります!!

Even in the rain and dim conditions, it was hopping about searching for food.

1週間前の。

It was dark. ^^;

ホタルに行く前にアカショウビン。^^

An unfamiliar individual. This is supposed to be another pair's territory, though. ^^;

今日は、アカショウビンが少なめの一日でした。^^;

観察6個体、撮影4個体でした…。

The usual white-headed female.

小雨の中、アカショウビンは元気にえさ取り、求愛給餌をしていました。^^

抱卵に入るペアが増えているようで、だんだん観察がしづらくなっています。

When it rains the colours of the trees become vivid.

まだ、抱卵に入っていないようです。求愛給餌はもうしないようでした。オスは呼ぶのですが、メスは全く反応なし。^^;

久々に、アカショウビン以外を撮ったなー。^^;

It was catching grasshoppers alongside crows.

昨日に引き続き今日も求愛給餌をしていました。^^

A female begging food from a male.

暗いなー。シャッタースピードがあがりません…。^^;

The male is the one on the left with the chipped lower mandible; the female is on the right. It looks like she was being given a cicada larva. This pair has already mated and dug a nest hole, yet it seems they still do courtship feeding. ^^

あちこちで営巣が始まっているようです。

I believe this is the individual I first photographed this year on 1 April.

5月に入ったのに気温が低く少し寒そうでした。

この2羽は初撮影です。^^

昼休みにおにぎりをコンビニで買っていってきました。1時間以内で2羽も撮れるなんて今年は多いのかなー。

見ただけで撮れてないアカショウビンはあと6羽います。^^;

目指せ20個体!!

昨日、掘ったと思われる巣。いい場所です。^^

メスのリュウキュウキビタキが行ったり来たり。^^

It's a female. The male has such beautiful yellow colouring, but he just won't come out. ^^;

求愛給餌をせずに、いきなり交尾でした。^^;

巣も発見済みなので今年も営巣の撮影が出来るなー。^^

I thought a male Ruddy Kingfisher had shown up, but he came empty-handed….
