コスモス畑にリュウキュウヨシゴイ
妻がどうしてもイチゴ狩りがしたいと言うので、宜野座ストロベリーファームでイチゴ狩りをした帰りに、伊芸地区のコスモス畑に寄った。水稲の緑肥として栽培されているコスモスで、例年、2月中旬ごろが見頃だそうです。昨年末から今年の正月にかけて暖かい日が続いた影響なのか、すでにコスモスは満開状態でした。
水田地帯なので脇には、水路が通っている。コスモスを楽しむ人が行き交う中、リュウキュウヨシゴイが擬態しておりました。近くにシロハラクイナも通りかかったが、素早く草むらに隠れてしまい撮影にはいたらず。
Spotted a Ryukyu Striated Heron on the far bank of a small irrigation channel. It was fooling passersby with its remarkable camouflage. ^^
Went around to the other bank and photographed the Ryukyu Striated Heron from above. It showed no sign of fleeing.
Cosmos were in full bloom in the warm sunlight. As a green manure crop, they are apparently ploughed into the paddies around March.
