まだいたセアカモズ　さえずり練習中

2月7日に発見したセアカモズもしくは、セアカモズとほかのモズとの交雑種はまだいました。以前見つけた場所には見当たらず、数十メートル離れたところで元気に餌取りをしていた。

換羽中の尾羽は、見つけた時よりずいぶん伸びていた。もうしばらく滞在してくれたら立派なオス夏羽が拝めるだろう。そうなれば、セアカモズらしさがさらに増すのだろうか。

きょうは、木のてっぺんに止まりながら何か種類は不明だが、小鳥の鳴き声を真似ていた。(2月20日追記：小鳥の鳴き真似ではなく、セアカモズ本来のさえずりでした!! xeno-canto に掲載されているさえずりにそっくり。成熟したオスになりつつあるのでさえずりの練習をしていたようです)

小さなクモやハチなどを見つけると素早く飛んで捕らえていた。ねぐらは、アダンの木にとっていた。

Today's Brown Shrike was mimicking the calls of small birds. (Added 20 February: it wasn't mimicking other birds — it was the Brown Shrike's own song!! It sounds just like the song posted on xeno-canto. It seems it was practising its song as it is becoming a mature male.)

It was mimicking the calls of small birds quite frequently. (Added 20 February: it wasn't mimicking other birds — it was the Brown Shrike's own song!! It sounds just like the song posted on xeno-canto. It seems it was practising its song as it is becoming a mature male.)

Looking forward to seeing it develop into a fully summer-plumaged male!!
