ジャワアカガシラサギとベニバト
8月中旬ごろになると毎年のように石垣島にやってくるジャワアカガシラサギ。 昨年は8月14日にジャワアカガシラサギ 見ており、場所を変えながら10月ぐらいまで滞在していました。この個体も確認してからすでに数日が経っており、このまま滞在する可能性が高いです。
ベニバトは春と秋の渡りとほかに、稲刈りに合わせているかのように6月ぐらいにも現れます。8月にやって来るのは秋の渡りで、刈り残された米などについて長期滞在するパターンが多いです。このベニバトも数日前にシギを見ているときに偶然発見した個体です。

The rain that had begun grew heavier, and the wind started rocking the car I was sitting in so violently that the Javan Pond Heron finally took flight.
Ruddy-breasted Crake. Adult female, late summer plumage.
When I found it the other day it was hidden among flattened, abandoned rice stalks and I could barely get any shots, but today for some reason it was walking along a farm track.
Common Redshank. The individual on the left is nearly in first-winter plumage; the one on the right is nearly in juvenile plumage.
Four Common Greenshanks. All adults, transitioning from summer to winter plumage.
Red-necked Stint, adult. A little winter plumage is just beginning to show.
