石垣島の猛禽　カタグロトビ、カンムリワシ、チョウゲンボウ

石垣島のカタグロトビは順調に繁殖を重ね、現在は約20羽ほどが島内に生息しています。バードウオッチングに行くような田んぼや牧草地にはほとんどいるような状況です。特に朝と夕が出会う確率が高いですね。

カンムリワシも繁殖を終えて田んぼで稲刈りが始まり出したので遭遇する機会が増えています。今季は、昨年同様に幼鳥の数が少ないです。

チョウゲンボウは数が多く。どこにでも現れます。ツメナガセキレイやタヒバリ、キジバトを観察しているとやってきて群れを飛ばしてしまうのがチョウゲンボウです。^^;

The Black-winged Kite at this spot is a fairly approachable individual, so I was able to observe it at close range. ^^

Those bright red eyes of the Black-winged Kite are a real draw for birdwatchers. ^^

A Crested Serpent Eagle came to a paddy field where rice harvesting was under way.

Common Kestrel, adult female.

It was scanning for prey from the field berm.
