石垣島にベニバト6羽飛来
仕事の移動中にキジバトの群れを発見。八重山には「キジバトの中にベニバトあり」という格言があるので少し寄り道をして探してみるとオス1羽とメス4羽、幼鳥1羽の合わせて6羽のベニバトが交じっていました。4羽までは見るのですが、6羽を一度に見ることはそうそうありません。
ベニバトはキジバトの群れとともに二期米の刈り取りが終わった田んぼで落穂を拾っていました。
今年の秋の渡りで見たベニバトは 8月の初陣 から数えて16羽となりました。まだまだ増えます。

This female is also well into the molt. Four birds are in this shot alone. The individual at the far back is the sixth Crimson Sunbird. ^^
