セッカの巣立ちビナ5羽(動画あり)
牧草地に巣立ちから1〜2日経過したセッカのヒナが5羽いました。セッカは一夫多妻なのでオスは子育てに参加しません。メス親はヒナへの餌を運びに、オス親は縄張りに入ってきたよそ者のセッカを追い払うのに大忙しでした。
ヒナに持ってくる餌は、ほとんどがカマキリの幼虫で、たまにクモを捕まえてくるようです。ヒナたちは、目の前をハエなどが飛ぶと反応して目で追っていた。生まれながらにしてなかなかの動体視力を持っているようだ。
セッカの巣立ちしたヒナたちは、通常、草むらの中に紛れて観察、撮影ともに難しいのですが、この牧草地は、巣立ち直後ぐらいに草が刈られたようで比較的見やすかった。草刈りが数日早かったら巣立ちもできなかった可能性があります。巣立ち、発見ともに絶妙のタイミングでした。^^
ミフウズラの親子も期待したのですが、1ペア見ただけに終わりました。
