日本初記録となるギンカモメが石垣島に飛来!!(動画あり)
南半球のオーストラリアなどに分布してほとんど移動しないはずのギンカモメが石垣島に現れました!! 写真は多めの13態掲載します。最後に動画もあります。
朝、職場でミーティングを終えた直後、わたしの師匠である石垣島bird観察さんから「なんか変なカモメがいるんだけど」とメールが着信。写真を開くとなんとギンカモメ!! 電話で「ギンカモメですね!! すぐ行きます!!」と場所を確認してから急行。取材の時間が迫るぎりぎりまでギンカモメを堪能することができました。
まさかギンカモメが国内で見られるとは夢にも思っておりませんでした。この先、二度と見ることはないでしょうね。
翌日の紙面用に取材するため日本で唯一、ギンカモメを飼育する福岡市動植物園に逸出などの可能性がないか聞くと羽数を確認しているので逃げた個体はいないとの返事でした。同園では2003年に国内で初めてギンカモメの繁殖に成功したそうですが、現在では増え過ぎて困るので繁殖をコントロールしているそうです。福岡に行った際には、ぜひ福岡市動植物園を訪れてみようと思います。

It appeared to have a slight injury to its left foot and was holding it slightly raised.

The tail feathers are pure white — and worn, as expected.

It made a loop around the estuary and came back.
