巣から落っこちたコノハズクのヒナ
仕事中、師匠から電話。なんと私がほぼ毎晩、観察しているリュウキュウコノハズクのヒナのうち、1羽が地面に落下していると!! 巣の場所が高くて戻せないと言うことなので慌てて飛んで行きました。
見つけた時は、カラスに今にも襲われるというところで危機一髪、助かったようです。問題の樹洞の入り口が高く、手が届きません。スポッターさんもかけつけ、脚立を出してなんとか巣へ戻すことができました。
親鳥は近くにいるので、いつ襲いかかってくるかと怯えながらの救出劇でした。^^;
近くには、アカショウビンの巣立ちビナ。昼間、待っていれば給餌も見られると思いますが、平日は仕事、休日は家族サービスがあるので無理ですね…。^^;
There is still a lot of down, and it will likely take about a week before fledging. I got this record shot while getting a stepladder and other equipment ready.
Ishigakijima, where the temperature climbed to 34 degrees. Even the Oriental Scops Owl chick is panting in the heat.
A Ruddy Kingfisher a few days out of the nest. Still being fed by the parents, but it won't be long before it's on its own.
